Neighborhoods

The neighborhoods surrounding USC’s Health Sciences campus – including Lincoln Heights, El Sereno, University Hills, Boyle Heights, Central City East and Downtown Los Angeles – are rich in diversity and densely populated.

The campus is uniquely situated in that it sits on the borders of these neighborhoods, rather than within any one community. As a result, in the past there has been little attraction for community residents to travel onto campus. One goal of the master-planning process is to create ways to make the campus more inviting to residents of neighboring communities and break down any perceived barriers.
